J John Rockner (JJR) bounced around in life like a steel ball in a Bally Fireball pinball machine. From swinging a hammer on the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad steel gang, to rock n’ roll singer, to technical writer, to sports dad. He always played by intuition, but he hit a lot of bumpers along the way.
JJR lives in Utah with his family. He grew up in rural Utah, watching the black and white Sci-Fi movie reruns on late-night television. On most of those endless summer nights, he rolled out his sleeping bag in the backyard to “sleep out” with his friends. After feasting on the neighbor’s apricots, they gazed into the sky and told stories that sounded a lot like those movies. Away from the smog and city lights, thousands of stars flickered above them.
JJR saw strange things in that beautiful sky, and he always wondered, “What could be up there, high above the atmosphere, looking down on us?” Silver and Red: Fireball offers one possibility.
Let’s hope JJR is wrong.
